Part II of "The Correlation of Gaze"
was exhibited in the group show Alphabet and Bells,
curated by Peter Thörneby.
The work consists of a radio transmitted loop, ~ 2.30 min. The installation during the short exhibition also included a radio.
This is a transliteration of the transmission.
In the institutionalized aesthetic gaze,
enchantment is coded in terms of aesthetic experience.
The object tend to transcend the technical schemas of the spectator.
Its linear speed,
the leading edge,
the size and deflection angle all computes.
In the end the object is a cognitive trap in which the viewer gets seduced and overwhelmed.
..
Movement itself attracts people.
Where there is movement, over two thirds more people will actually remember having seen the medium.
..
Eye-tracking is systematic, as in reading text e.g., left-right, top-to-bottom, applying a rule-based scanning sequence.
..
The increase of eye-contact initiated by use of movement translates into a increase in the cognitive awareness of a object or text.
..
The movement itself attracts attention.
